ADAMS-FRIENDSHIP,
WI
– The Stuff the Bus Committee of Adams County is currently seeking drop off
locations for its Ninth Annual Stuff the Bus Collection. Businesses and
organizations can begin holding school supply drives from July 17, 2017 until
August 11. On August 11th, 9:00 am, a bus donated by Kobussen Buses Ltd.
will depart from the Adams-Friendship Area School District Office and drive to
each location to pick up school supplies and “Stuff the Bus!”
Donated
school supplies will be sorted by volunteers at the Adams County Community
Center, assembled into backpacks and finally distributed to students in need on
August 15, 2017 from 9am – 4:30pm.
To
become a drop off location, simply contact the Adams County Community Services
office at 608-339-4544. Drop off locations need to place their collection
boxes in a prominent location, provide signage, and promote their school supply
drives. They can be open to the public; or have them available only to
members/employees.
Items
that are especially needed include: 24 count crayons, pencils, pencil
pouches, pens (red, blue or black), colored pencils, washable markers,
watercolor paints, pointed scissors, wide ruled paper (spiral bound), glue
sticks, supply boxes, pocket folders, filler paper (wide ruled), 3 ring binders
(1inch size), rulers, scientific calculators, and backpacks.
Monetary
donations and gift certificates are also accepted. Please write checks to
“Stuff the Bus” and mail/deliver to the Adams-Friendship Schools Administrative
Building, 201 W. 6th St., Friendship, WI 53934.
Families
who wish to apply for school supplies can pick up an application at the Adams
County Health and Human Services office from July 17 to August 11, 2017.

About
the Stuff the School Bus
“Stuff
the Bus” is a collaborative effort of several local non-profit and government
agencies, including the Adams County Community Services Program, Adams County
Health and Human Services, Adams-Friendship Area School District, the Salvation
Army, and United Way of Inner Wisconsin.
Every
year, the Stuff the Bus Committee asks the community to “stuff a school bus”
with donations of school supplies. Later, the school supplies are
distributed to local students in need. All families who live in Adams
County and who are in financial need are eligible; but need to fill out an
application at the Adams County Health and Human Services office, or contact
the Adams County Community Services Program.
Stuff
the Bus of Adams County is a community collaboration initiative of United Way
of Inner Wisconsin.
