Paper Tigers - Wisconsin Rapids and Marshfield

Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Community Services & the Wood County Health department
are proud to announce FREE showings of a powerful documentary, Paper Tigers.

Paper Tigers highlights research related to The Adverse Childhood Experiences study; which demonstrates how trauma impacts development and increases issues related to mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, physical health, and early death.  The documentary focuses on one school’s radical solution to the problem and how it impacted the students. The school has become a promising model of how to break the cycles of poverty, violence and disease that affect families through the practice of trauma-informed educational strategies and is a testament to what the latest research on childhood adversity is proving:  that one caring adult can change the trajectory of a young person’s life.

Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Community Services and Wood County Health department are partnering together for two showings in Wood County because many children served in our schools, clinics, hospital and community based settings have experienced ACES which directly impacts their health; ability to learn; overall well-being and impacts our community’s health.  Please join us for the documentary so we can continue to find effective ways to meet the needs of our community.
