Thursday, January 15 - The Adams Community Theatre will be showing a Free Movie at 6:30 PM. This 2014  drama stars Ben Affleck and Neil Patrick Harris and is rated R. With his wife's disappearance having become the focus of an intense media circus, a man sees the spotlight turned on him when it's suspected that he may not be innocent.

Saturday, January 17 - A Benefit for the Family of Patrick Stainbrook will be held from 3 to 7 PM at the Arkdale Lutheran Church. All you can eat Spaghetti Dinner with choice of sauce, salad, garlic bread, dessert and coffee/milk or water. Aduts are $8, children 4-10 $5 and under 3 free. Saturday, January 17 - The Adams Community Theatre will present their free 3rd Saturday Classic Movie starting at 7 PM at the theater (157 S Main Street, Adams). This month's feature is a recently restored version of a 1927 science fiction classic. In a futuristic city sharply divided between the working class and the city planners, the son of the city's mastermind falls in love with a working class prophet who predicts the coming of a savior to mediate their differences. Not for children.
  
Sunday, January 18 - Adams Community Theatre will present their monthly Play Reading Circle at 6 PM at the theatre (157 S Main Street, Adams). This month's feature is "Harvey" -  a 1945 play by Mary Chase. A man believes his best friend is a six-foot tall invisible rabbit.  

Monday, January 19 - Adams County Humane  Society is teaming up with the Spay Me Clinic to bring Low-Cost Spay and Neuter clinic for cats.  Indoor cats $65 includes spay/neuter, 1 year rabies vaccination and nail trim.  Outdoor cats $65 includes spay/neuter, 1 year rabies vaccination, flea and ear mite treatment.  Kittens must be at least 2 lbs. Other services include distemper vaccination $5, microchip $20, flea/de-wormer $15.  For more information or to get your cat(s) registered call the Adams County Humane Society at 608-339-6700.  Space is limited.

Monday, January 19 - The Friendship Connection will hold a Wellness & Recovery Support Group from 11 AM-12 PM at their location 252 S Main Street, Adams (entrance in the back). This is a casual group led by volunteers. Everyone is welcome. For more information contact

Thursday, January 22 - The Adams Community Theatre will be showing a Free Movie at 6:30 PM. This 2014  animated film stars the voice talents of Ben Kingsley and Tracey Morgan and is rated PG. A young orphaned boy raised by underground cave-dwelling trash collectors tries to save his friends from an evil exterminator. Based on the children's novel 'Here Be Monsters' by Alan Snow.

Saturday, January 24 - A Coyote Contest will be held at Van's Redneck Saloon, 345 County A, Oxford, WI. Cost is $10 per person and you must be pre-registered. There is 100% Payback, Guaranteed to pay largest and smallest. Must be harvested day of event, weigh in @ 7PM with snacks provided. For info call 608-697-2856. WARMING CENTERS AVAILABLE - Adams County


EXTREME COLD TEMPERATURES ALERT SUNDAY, JANUARY 4 – FRIDAY, JANUARY 9, 2015

From the Office of Adams County Emergency Management Extreme cold, below zero temperatures, will begin moving into the area Sunday, January 4th and will continue through Friday, January 9, 2015. The following warming centers in Adams County are available, during normal business hours, to the public Sunday, January 4, 2015 through Friday, January 9, 2015.

  • Adams County Library (569 N. Cedar Street, Adams)
  • Adams County Community Center (569 N. Cedar Street, Adams) (Check in with UW-Extension).
  • Moundview Memorial Hospital (Solarium Room, 402 West Lake Street, Friendship)
  • Rome Town Hall (1156 Alpine Drive, corner of Hwy. 13 & D)
Normal business hours are as follows:
  • Library – 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (Monday-Wednesday); 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (Thursday); 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Friday)
  • Adams County Community Center – 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Monday-Friday) (Check-in with UW-Extension)

Be Money Smart - Adams County


Managing money can be difficult for anyone.  Learn how to manage yours more efficiently at this series of Four Money Smart workshops.

1.  January 13 - Money Matters - learn how to create a budget, track spending.
2.  January 20 - Check It Out - learn about opening a checking account, the importance     of managing a checking account and using a debit card safely.
3.  January 27 - Pay Yourself First - Learning the importance of saving and how to save even if you don't feel like you have money to save.
4.  February 3 - To Your Credit - Learn how to use a credit card safely, the importance of paying off your credit card and eliminating debt as well as improve your credit score.

Workshops are presented by Leah Eckstein, Family Living Educator at Adams County UW-Extension.

All sessions are free and everyone is welcome to attend.  Participants who complete all four of the workshops will receive a certificate of completion AND a Kwik-Trip gift card.

Health Fair at Elroy Medical Center - Juneau County


Receive free blood pressure and blood sugar testing, and learn what your risk factors are for developing heart disease and diabetes by reserving your space at the upcoming health fair being held at Mile Bluff – Elroy Family Medical Center in Elroy. 

In addition to these services, cholesterol screenings will be available for a small fee.

Reserve your spot at the upcoming health fair hosted by Mile Bluff Medical Center in Elroy on Thursday, January 8.  Appointments are required for all services, and are available from 7 to 10 am.

Parenting program available to those with children 12 months, younger - Juneau County



If you’re a new parent, you already know that there is a lot to learn about babies.  You can’t prepare for everything, but Mile Bluff can answer some of your questions.
 
To assist you during the first year of your baby’s life, Mile Bluff offers the Hand-in-Hand parenting program.  It is designed to help provide you with answers for dealing with some of the most common situations that arise during your child’s first 12 months of life.

The Hand-in-Hand program is held the second Monday of every month at 4:30 pm.  The next meeting will be Monday, January 12 and will focus on infant play.
